Welcome!
Native Bible Centre exists to assist local Native churches by providing biblical resources that can be used to learn the Word of God. The T.R.I.B.E. program is designed to give general Bible knowledge along with practical ministry skills for the Native believer.
The letters of T.R.I.B.E. stand for TRAINING RESOURCES FOR INDIGENOUS BIBLE EDUCATION. The self-study courses use purchased workbooks and except for the Bible, no additional texts are necessary. Students have the option of taking courses for credit towards Certificates (upon completion of five and ten courses) or a Diploma (upon completion of 15 courses).
Courses are divided into four categories and may be taken in any order. Explore the possibilities of how you can grow in your knowledge of the Bible and your relationship with Jesus Christ!
About Us
Native Bible Centre is a ministry of InterAct Ministries of Canada.
In 1967, after many years in Alaska, InterAct began ministry in British Columbia, Canada, among the Native people.
By 1971, the need for a training program in Canada seemed evident and the Native Institute of Canada was started. A few years later the boarding high school was discontinued, but the ministry of the Bible institute continued through various regional and short-term weekend conferences. Eventually the name was changed to Native Bible Centre (NBC) and classes for resident students began again, graduating its first class in 1984.
In 1986, NBC changed to primarily an education by extension program and continues to assist individuals and local Native churches by providing online Biblical resources that can be used to learn the Word of God.
In 2003 Ed and Glenna Houston took the reins of Native Bible Centre. In 2011, they moved to Wardner, BC, to continue directing NBC and the production of “TRIBE” (Training Resources for Indigenous Bible Education) materials. In 2019, Ed went home to be with the Lord, and two years later, Glenna moved to Olds, AB, to be near family. She retired in 2024.
Native Bible Centre is now overseen by Mark and Emma Dabrowski. Mark was born in Poland and Emma, in Australia. They met while living in Calgary, Alberta and were married in 1999. Mark attended Millar College of the Bible in Saskatchewan. They felt called to missions and spent two years in New Tribes Mission Training in Ontario. The Lord then led them to spend five years serving in Papua New Guinea with New Tribes. During their time there, health issues led them to return to Canada and God guided them towards InterAct Ministries.
